NW REGION CHEERLEADING FCHS cheerleaders to compete in regionals

November 5th, 2010 by Patricia K.

MANASSAS — Seven-time reigning Western Valley District champion Franklin County is one of 16 teams which will compete for the Northwest Region competition cheerleading championship Saturday night at Osbourn High School.

The event begins at 6 p.m.

Joining FCHS and WVD rivals Halifax County and GW Danville in the field are teams from the Cardinal, Commonwealth and Cedar Run districts.

Each team will present its routine to the judges twice.

The top four placing teams earn berths in to the Group AAA state competition, Saturday, Nov. 13 at Alltel Pavillion at the Stuart C. Siegel Center in Richmond.

FCHS’s best finish in the regionals came in 2008 when the Eagles placed second and parlayed that showing into an eighth-place finish in their first appearance in the state competition.

North Stafford, which placed third in last year’s Group AAA competition, is the reigning Northwest Region champion.  — MORE –
